Who we are as Lutherans

We live in a world of religious pluralism; even in the rural areas of Grace and Emmanuel, a lot of options exist. As members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we have a unique perspective on many intersecting areas of faith and life. Whether you are interested in being more involved in this community of faith or the ELCA, new to the ELCA or this community of faith, or have been here your whole life, it's always good to refresh this understanding of who we are. We will explore some of the defining characteristics of the ELCA. Also, as we are moving further along in our pastoral transition process, we will also discuss how various aspects of the three expressions of the church (Churchwide, Synod, and Congregation) play into that transition process. We will also have FOOD. You are invited to join us at Emmanuel Lutheran on Tuesday, May 23; potluck will begin at 6:00, session at 6:30.

Footsteps of Paul

We often see Biblical lands as far off--way over there, and that geographical distance makes the stories that much more distant in space as well as time. Walking in the footsteps of Biblical heroes can be profound in making the stories that much more real. But many of us don't have the opportunity to do so. Yet, it can be done (somewhat) vicariously. Pastor Jacob and Sarah took a "Footsteps of St. Paul" trip to many of the places mentioned in the Bible associated with St. Paul in March. We welcome you to a "Footsteps of Paul" journey through some of their photos and discussion on Tuesday, May 16 at Grace Lutheran. Potluck dinner at 6:00; presentation at 6:30.
